MARISA MARINETTO
Marisa Marinetto is an artist from Atlanta,
Georgia. Her technique is unusual and she creates expressive effects
by distressing, layering, scraping, and generating texture, all while
using intense color. Pulling from her life’s experiences, and
motivated by her cultural vibrancy, Marisa explains, “I believe
my art is much like life, its beauty is created from different influences.”
Marisa was born in Springfield,
Massachusetts in January of 1966. The granddaughter of an Italian immigrant,
she grew up embracing her vivid heritage. Her father introduced Marisa
to the wide world of art at a very young age. These early memories provoked
a desire that directed her to the arts.
Marisa moved to Bermuda in her early 20’s and lived there for
three years. She describes Bermuda as an artist’s haven. “The
rich, bold, natural colors of the island have been imprinted in my mind
forever… it’s truly amazing.” Marisa graduated, Magnum
Cum Laud with a Bachelor of Arts in Design and Marketing from Atlanta’s
American Intercontinental University. She then left the South to work
as an apprentice to Lazaro, a couture designer in New York City. She
came back to Atlanta and entered into the Event Planning field. With
her imagination, she worked tirelessly on all the creative aspects of
events from backdrops, to set design, theme development, and dramatic
costumes.
In the past few years, Marisa’s painting has become her driving
passion. She is a self taught visual artist who is ever evolving and
growing in her style. Marisa’s work has been seen through out
Atlanta such as “Art to Market” a designer’s showroom,
The Art Station in Stone Mountain Georgia, Bradley and Hughes Gallery
on Miami Circle, Midtown Atlanta’s Vinocity Wine bar, Atlanta’s
premiere restaurant- Taurus, the Timothy Michael Gallery and Eclectic
Electric Gallery in Roswell Georgia . She is showing her work in galleries
as far west as Montana and she has private collectors from coast to
coast.
“A wonderful piece of art should create the tone and mood of a
room or a home. I try to pull the audience in… or the emotion
out.” She says with a smile. Her personal style is very eclectic
and she believes any personal space should reflect the individuals’
personality. Marisa paints using acrylics, creating pieces that have
an organic appeal with rich color combinations inspired by the world
around her.
She paints because she loves it. It brings her a sense of peace and
joy and hopes her work will do the same for you.
